Tot Class
A
Tot class involves boys and girls, ages
walking to 3 years, for a 40 minute class,
each week at the same time. Guess what Mom
and Dad? You get to follow that little munchkin
around while they do activities such as,
trampoline, climbing, tumbling, and walking
on the balance beam. While we work on traditional
gymnastics skills, the emphasis is really
on developing spatial awareness,bonding
with mom and dad, and having fun! The class
is approached in a very upbeat fashion,
allowing the children to develop a positive
attitude toward movement. Organized physical
activity can assist children in their socialization
skills, as well as give them one up in their
future academic development.
Kindergym class
A
Kindergym class involves boys and girls from 3 to 5 years of age for a 50 minute
class each week at the same time. We allow only 6 kids per instructor! There are
almost always two classes running at the same time. One class will be 3 year olds
and the other 4 and 5 year olds. The class starts with a warm up to music, going
from there to a few minutes of stretching, body positions, and a few static positions
used in gymnastics. They break up into age groups and move to the first skill
teaching station, such as bars, balance beam, trampoline and our mini wall climbing
and slide. We try to get 2 or 3 stations per class. We work on "hand/eye
coordination", as well as "Balance" working both the right side
and left side equally. Each class ends with some type fun activity, such as body
rock; pass the beanbag and many more!
Pre-progressive boys and girls (5-7 year olds)
At
this age the boys and girls are separated.
This facilitates learning, since the boys
and girls have different events. The class
is an hour long, each week at the same time.
The class begins with a 5-7 minute stretch
and warm up. They then spend time training
on 2 or 3 events such as balance beam, floor
exercise (tumbling), and uneven parallel
bars and tumble track (our long trampoline).
As a bonus some will finish a class with
time on the indoor climbing wall. The gym
has a wall with 6 top ropes, designed to
make climbing safer. When they do not finish
on the wall, each class engages in a small
amount of conditioning.
Progressive boys and girls (8 plus)
This class is identical to the pre-progessive, except the kids are older and
working with kids close to their age. Our
curriculum is designed with 6 levels for
girls and 7 levels for the boys. A beginning
5 year old will be working on the same skills
as a beginning 8 year old, but with kids
their own age.
